The below information pertains to the Uganda Work Permit Class A, one of 7 categories of permits offered in Uganda.

Background to the Uganda work permit Class AUUganda work permit class A

When applying for a work permit for Uganda the applicant must first make sure they apply under the correct category. There are currently 7 types of work permit that can be applied for and the for the full list please see here.

Uganda Work Permit Class A

Uganda work permit Class A is offered under 2 categories:

1. Class A work permit – which can be applied for by applicants who will be in the employ of  the Uganda government or diplomatic service.

2. The Class A2 work permit  – which can be applied for by government contractors including persons serving in Government tertiary institutions.

In both cases all foreign nationals that intend working in Uganda must ensure that they are in possession of the Class work permit before commencing work.

Requirements for Class A work permits

  • Uganda work permits Class A  Application requirements:
  • Fill Entry / work Permit form
  • Attach photocopies of the passport
  • 2 passport size photos
  • Covering letter from the Embassy and a supportive letter from the ministry of Foreign Affairs – not verbal.
  • Uganda work permits Class A2  Application requirements:
  • Fill Entry / work permit form
  • Attach photocopies of the passport
  • 2 passport size photos
  • Covering letter from the organisation
  • Covering letter from the line ministry
  • Interpol letter from home country
  • Academic qualifications for professionals
